Who We Are

UnitedTags is an online QR tag management service. We allow individuals and businesses to create smart QR codes linked to editable digital profiles for pets, medical IDs, business cards, equipment, and more.

What Data We Collect

We collect the following personal data when you use our service:

• Email address — used to create and manage your account
• Password — stored securely as a hashed value, never in plain text
• Tag profile data — the information you choose to store on your QR tags (e.g. pet details, contact info, medical notes)
• Billing information — processed by Stripe on our behalf; we do not store your card details
• Scan logs — when a QR code is scanned, we log the date, time, and approximate location data for your analytics. IP addresses used for this are not stored in identifiable form.
• Session data — standard session cookies to keep you logged in

How We Use Your Data

• To provide and operate the UnitedTags service
• To process payments and manage your subscription
• To show you scan analytics on your tags
• To send essential service emails (account creation, billing receipts, important notices)
• To investigate and prevent abuse of the platform

We do not sell your personal data. We do not use your data for advertising.

Cookies

We use the following cookies:

• Session cookie — keeps you logged in during your visit. Deleted when you log out or close your browser.
• Stripe cookies — set by Stripe during the payment process for fraud prevention and checkout functionality. See Stripe's Privacy Policy for details.

We do not use advertising cookies or third-party analytics tracking cookies.

Third Parties

We use the following third-party services to operate UnitedTags:

• Stripe — payment processing. Stripe handles all card data and is PCI-DSS compliant.
• Web hosting provider — our servers are located in the UK/EU.

These providers only process your data as necessary to deliver their service and are bound by their own privacy policies.

Data Retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you request account deletion, we will remove your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal or financial record-keeping purposes (e.g. billing records).

Tag profile data (the information stored on your QR tags) is deleted immediately when you delete a tag or close your account.

Your Rights (UK GDPR)

Under UK GDPR you have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Correct inaccurate personal data
• Request deletion of your personal data ("right to be forgotten")
• Object to or restrict how we process your data
• Receive a copy of your data in a portable format

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at support@unitedtagsltd.com. We will respond within 30 days.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) if you believe your data has been handled unlawfully.

Security

We take reasonable technical measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), hashed passwords, and access controls. No system is completely secure — if you believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
